General Fitness

Our Naturopaths Say

Fitness is the state of being physically healthy and strong. It can be achieved through regular exercise and proper nutrition. Exercise helps to improve cardiovascular health, build strength and flexibility, and maintain a healthy weight. Eating a balanced diet provides the body with the nutrients it needs to function properly and support physical activity. Being physically fit can help reduce the risk of chronic diseases, improve mental health, and increase overall well-being. To maintain good fitness, it is important to engage in regular physical activity and make healthy food choices.

More from our Naturopaths

Apart from doing my workout, anything else I can do to take care of my wellbeing?
As you get used to your new fitness routine, try to be more active in your daily life by taking the stairs or walking more, such as during meetings, lunch breaks, with your children, or on your commute. Staying hydrated is critical, so keep a water bottle on hand, drink frequently, and make water your drink of choice. Make getting a good night's sleep a priority because it can have an impact on your physical and mental health. Last but not least, show your mind some love by regularly practising gratitude and self-care. Even thinking about what you're grateful for right now for one minute can change your perspective and make you feel more positive. You may notice that you are more hungry now that you are training on a regular basis. Fill your fridge and pantry with nutrient-dense foods and plenty of fruits and vegetables - it's easier to make a healthy choice when one is readily available.
How do I stay motivated?
You will have highs and lows during your fitness journey. Set regular goals so you have something to work towards, remind yourself of the benefit of the exercise, find a workout buddy, take breaks and reward yourself. Remember, it's normal to have ups and downs when it comes to motivation. Just try to stay consistent and keep moving forward, even if it's just a little bit at a time.
My body is sore, what to do?
There are a few- things you can do to help reduce soreness. Gentle stretches: Gentle stretches can help improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension. Hold each stretch for about 30 seconds and repeat a few times. Foam rolling: Foam rolling involves using a foam roller to massage your muscles. This can help increase blood flow and reduce soreness. Heat therapy: Applying heat to sore muscles can help reduce stiffness and improve blood flow. You can use a heating pad or take a warm bath or shower. Cold therapy: Applying cold to sore muscles can help reduce inflammation and numb pain. You can use an ice pack or take a cold bath or shower. Rest: Getting enough rest is important for muscle recovery. Try to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep per night and allow yourself adequate time to rest between workouts. Hydration: Staying hydrated can help flush out toxins and reduce muscle soreness. Make sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after your workout. Nutrition: Eating a healthy, balanced diet can help support muscle recovery. Make sure to include plenty of protein and nutrients in your meals and snacks.
