Mindfully Indulgent Caffeine-free Chocolate

It’s not everyday we come across a product that is so delicious and can actually be suitable for almost every diet – gluten free, organic, 100% natural, no added sugar – and all that in a chocolate! 

When we looked into Carob Farm, we knew straight away this was a brand that fitted into the Gr8 Health range for its natural ingredients, the organic approach and because, let’s face it, we all love a good healthy snack!

What is It?

Carob Farm caffeine-free chocolate is Australian-made from organic orchard-grown carob without gluten or palm oil. Not only do they offer delicious products, they are also helping the environment in the process – Carob Farm donates 10% of profits to ‘Friends of the Koala’, an organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating sick and injured koalas in NSW Northern Rivers.

But what is carob? Native to the Mediterranean, carob comes from the pods of the carob tree. When the pods are ripe, the sweet pulp is removed, roasted, and ground into a fine powder. This powder is often a substitute for chocolate in baking recipes (like on the delicious chocolate we are testing here).

We Tried

Since protecting the environment and our wildlife is a cause close to our hearts, of course we had to have Carob Farm on board!

And me, being a chocolate lover, I had to try a few of the range so I picked 3 flavours:

CAROB FARM Carob Koala Original 95g

This was a definite winner from the beginning. It is very creamy and smooth, just like milk chocolate. You definitely cannot taste the difference and the best part? It’s a guilt free snack full of vital vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, rendering them an ideal indulgence for the entire family to relish.

CAROB FARM Carob Block Himalayan Salted Caramel 95g

I am a lover of all things caramel so this was my second pick.

You can definitely taste the salt but it’s not overwhelming or overpowering. The caramel smells and tastes amazing and this is the perfect chocolate to chop up and add on top of ice creams or other healthy desserts. Super smooth, this was by far my favourite one of the range so far!

CAROB FARM Carob Block Lamington 95g

A healthy take on an Aussie classic, this chocolate is sensational. I couldn’t stop eating! The toasted coconut is super present and brings a satisfying crunch to the bar and you can also taste the vanilla added. My five year old also loved this bar and, I have to say, the design is super attractive to kids as well, so bonus points! 

Final Thoughts

We are super proud to stock such an amazing brand with such high values – needless to say I was impressed with the quality and taste of the chocolates I tried and they became a pantry staple for me as my child absolutely loves the products!

These bars are also a great way to introduce a healthy snack or dessert for the kids and talk about the different alternatives for chocolate, since carob powder has more calcium and fiber than cacao. It also has lower levels of saturated fats, so it’s healthier for your heart. Additionally, carob powder is caffeine-free, so it won’t bother you if you have a caffeine sensitivity.
