    Lose Belly Fat: Male Health

    Lose Belly Fat: Male Health

So, like many of you I have reached my mid-40’s.  A business owner, married, father of two, active lifestyle but very time poor.

The majority of my life has been one of a healthy lifestyle. I have followed closely the Eight Principles to Great Health my whole life that this business is based on – Exercise, Nutrition, Sunlight, Rest, Moderation, Design & Fresh Air.   I have had a healthy diet most of my life, without alcohol, drugs or too much sugar, and sought the great outdoors for enjoyment and exercise.

In fact, I have competed in 20 Half Marathons, 7 full Marathons (Many of these overseas, completed 4 ultra-marathons, two open Ocean Swims and 2 Adventure Races in Northern QLD).  I am a long way from being a champion sport star but have undertaken these events for fun and exercise.

Since having a family in my late 30’s and running my business, my available time has reduced significantly. I have reached the point where I need to ensure I regain charge of my health.

I am not unhealthy I have regular check-ups – my blood pressure is perfect, cholesterol perfect, PSA perfect and all systems seem to be go. I am in the middle to upper scale for my BMI for my weight (76kg) and height (176cm). But I can feel the weight building, the stomach sagging and the need to get back into shape calling.  I feel if I don’t start dedicating time immediately it’s only going to get harder.

With these things in mind, I made the call, and decided to lose 5 kilos in 6 weeks.   I want to do it the right way so I can stay in shape long term.  So as one of the founders I am going to write about this experience and publish.  Why? Because the health industry is made up of either healthy young men and women and or healthy mid-life women.  Not a lot is published about the middle age men.

The average middle-aged man in Australia is overweight, in fact 3 in 4 Australian men (75%) were classified as overweight in Australia in 2019.  In our business, we see very few men seeking health related products.  In fact, of the thousands of people that buy from us each week, nearly 80% of them are females.  So these blog articles are aim to encourage other middle aged men to regain that fitness they once had.

I am going to launch my 6-week crusade with the oldest diet in the world.  A 7-day whole foods diet. Which means that for 7-days I will eat only whole food – fruit and veggies, grains and cereals that are unprocessed and drink only water.  This will be complemented by an increased exercise program that will include 3x7km runs, two pool swims a week and minimum of 1×45 minute walk each day.

Week 2 will a see continuation of this exercise program, not to mention, this health program needs to fit in around my work commitments and a young family.  During this week I will talk more about the supplements and vitamins I am taking for general male health, nutritional supplements, and how to increase energy.   Weeks 3-6 will focus on ensuring I am making long term lifestyle changes to keep my renewed health going for the next 30 plus years.

Here’s to the challenge, and as always, here is to Gr8 Health.
