Product Review Orgran Vegan Easy Egg G/F

Want to make breakfast exciting again?

I love a good breakfast omelet. It’s one of my favourite ways to start the day and, being non vegan or vegetarian, I know I can enjoy this anytime. But I was curious to know how vegans also enjoy a good scramble or omelet in the morning?

    First Thoughts

When I saw the Orgran Vegan Easy Egg I got to admit I was super curious. Aren’t vegans supposed to avoid eggs? Well, yes! But these are not your typical eggs – these are Gluten free, wheat free, dairy free, egg free, yeast free and soy free vegan egg substitute.

    What is It?

Made with chickpea and maize flour, this mixture is very interesting! How can these ingredients taste or look like eggs? Surprisingly, it does! Slightly dryer, this mixture still gives you the ‘spongier’ texture of eggs and can definitely satisfy you the same way.

    How do you Use It?

I tried making my usual omelet in the morning and this is how it went – I fried a bit of vegan butter in a pan, added some chopped onions and then prepared the ‘egg’ mixture. I whisked 2 tablespoons of the mixture with half a cup of water and 1 teaspoon of oil until I got a slightly watery egg mixture. I added to the frying pan with my onions and flipped once it was nice and slightly brown. I added some salt and garlic powder and voila! I had a perfectly cooked omelet.

But you can also make scrambled eggs, which I tried as well! To replace two scrambled eggs – whisk two tablespoons of Vegan Easy Egg with half a cup of water and 1 teaspoon of oil until blended. Preheat the frying pan and grease lightly (I used vegan butter).  Pour the ‘egg’ mixture into the frying pan and distribute evenly, folding as you go. As the mixture begins to cook, lift and fold the mix until thickened and there is no remaining liquid in the pan. I served immediately with a nice piece of wholemeal toast and a big cuppa.

    Results

The results were very surprising! I was not expecting to enjoy it as I never thought anything could replace eggs. But this alternative is extremely tasty and very satisfying. The ‘eggs’ were still fluffy, not dry and extremely tasty.

Vegan Easy Egg works best as an egg replacer in savoury recipes so you can make omelets, scrambled eggs, savoury muffins, cakes, etc. Anything you want!

From a non vegan person perspective, I loved this alternative and feel like it can easily be incorporated into any diet as a healthier version or even if you’re just starting your vegan journey. It’s definitely worth a try!

Looking for ways to incorporate ‘eggs’ into your routine without actually having eggs? Give Orgran Vegan Easy Egg a go and make your mornings super satisfying!
