    What Are Superfoods?

    What are Superfoods?

So, you might have heard the word ‘superfood’ being thrown around in the health food scene before. But what really is it? A superfood is both a food and a medicine. It is classed as one of the most nutrient-dense and highly concentrated foods in the world. They are simply the closest fuel there is to becoming a ‘super-hero’! Superfoods provide maximum nutritional benefit for minimal calories and are abundant in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants for your body to thrive.

    Types of Superfoods

There is an endless variety of superfoods available to us with some common food examples including blueberries, dark green leafy vegetables, and healthy animal based proteins like salmon. There are also a wide range of health products and supplements containing highly-absorbable nutrients that can be found in the form of powders, capsules, flakes, liquids and oils. Check out our range of superfoods on our website, there is bound to be one to suit your individual needs!

    Health Benefits of Superfoods

Superfoods have been shown to reduce the risk of various degenerative diseases, and they contain many different health benefits including:

    • Heart health
    • Strong immunity
    • Reduce neurological conditions
    • Healthy metabolism
    • Lower cholesterol
    • Reduce inflammation

Rich in Vitamins & Minerals: Superfoods are rich in vitamins A, C, E and K, and many B vitamins. The high vitamin and mineral content found in superfoods is a vital protector against chronic disease. When incorporated into a well-balanced, healthy diet, these foods can improve energy levels, encourage weight loss, improve heart health, and even reduce the effects of ageing.

Antioxidants: Antioxidants are a group of compounds that reduce free radical damage and oxidative stress in the body which prevents inflammation and significantly slows down the biological aging process. Due to their high antioxidant and phytochemical content, superfoods have been shown to lower chronic disease risk factors through their anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective and neuroprotective effects.

How can you add Superfoods into your every day diet?

Incorporating superfoods into your daily diet is a fantastic way to guarantee you are consuming all the nutrients you are required to live a long, healthy and thriving life. Superfoods can be easily added to any meal of the day, and there are many health products containing superfoods that can be utilised into your diet for extra support. Whether it is mixing a daily greens powder into your morning smoothie, or sprinkling some hemp seeds onto your granola, there is always a way to be creative with superfoods!
