Description
Tallow is pure organic beef suet fat, sourced from the fat around the kidneys.
It has a rich flavour similar to lard and is loaded with vitamin E. Tallow can be used to treat a leaky gut and relieve joint pain.
Our tallow is 100% organic, grass fed, paleo and GAPS friendly.
Made from start-to-finish grass raised cows, we take pride in delivering you the highest in ethical and nutritional standards. This is evident by the rich golden colour and aroma which only comes from grass fed suet.
Tallow can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 years without going rancid pending light and air exposure. Keep refrigerated to extend shelf life, and it can remain in good condition indefinitely when stored in the freezer.

Nutritional & Health Benefits
- Rich in Fat Soluble Vitamins: Suet-based tallow is especially high in vitamins A, D, E, and K2, which are crucial for hormone balance, bone health, and immune support.
- CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid): Found in higher amounts in grass-fed suet. CLA has been studied for anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties, plus it may support fat metabolism.
- Stable Saturated Fats: Suet is higher in saturated stearic acid (a “clean-burning” fat linked to energy and metabolic benefits). Unlike seed oils, it doesn’t oxidise easily, so it’s less inflammatory.
- Keto & Paleo Friendly: Provides slow-burning energy without spiking blood sugar, making it ideal for keto, carnivore, or paleo diets.
- Gut & Skin Friendly: Traditional wisdom (and modern anecdotal evidence) suggests tallow supports gut lining integrity and nourishes skin from the inside out.
Culinary Benefits
- High Smoke Point: Perfect for frying, roasting, and sautéing without turning rancid like vegetable oils.
- Clean, Neutral Flavour: Suet derived tallow is milder than generic tallow, making it more versatile for both savoury and even some baking uses.
Organic & Ethical Benefits
- Certified Organic: No pesticides, hormones, GMOs, or chemical residues. You’re not cooking with hidden nasties.
- From Suet, Not Mixed Fat: Suet tallow is purer, less oxidised, and naturally higher in nutrients than fat trimmed from random cuts.
- Sustainable Nose-to-Tail: Utilises a traditional part of the animal that would otherwise be wasted.
External Uses (Non-Food)
- Skin Nourishment: Tallow is almost bio-identical to human skin oils, making it an incredible natural moisturiser. Suet tallow is especially prized in skincare for being denser and more nutrient-rich.
- Hair & Lip Care: Protects against dryness without chemicals or petroleum-based products.
Uses
Everyday Cooking
- Frying & Sautéing: Use a spoonful instead of olive/vegetable oil. Perfect for eggs, stir-fries, or searing meat.
- Roasting Veggies: Toss potatoes, pumpkin, or root veg in melted tallow before roasting → they come out crispy and golden.
- Pan-Grilling: Use it for steak, chicken, or fish — high smoke point means it won’t burn or leave a bitter taste.
Baking & Traditional Recipes
- Pastry & Pies: Suet tallow has been used for centuries in savoury pies and crusts. It gives pastry a flaky texture (like lard does).
- Biscuits & Scones: Sub for butter or shortening. Adds richness without being overpowering.
Meat & Savoury Uses
- Rub for Roasts: Spread tallow on chicken or beef before roasting for extra crisp skin and flavour.
- Basting: Melt and spoon over grilled meats to keep them juicy.
- Burger Hack: Mix a spoonful of tallow into lean mince for juicier burgers.
Everyday Hacks
- Fries & Chips: The OG McDonald’s flavour came from beef tallow, not vegetable oil. Homemade fries in tallow = unbeatable.
- Popcorn: Pop your kernels in tallow instead of canola. You’ll never go back.
- Greasing Pans: Brush it on pans, baking trays, or cast iron to season and prevent sticking.
