Silicone gum and tooth brushes are lovely for those sore gums. By the time kids are 3, they should have a full set of their first milk teeth. Regular brushing is important to remove food, plaque and of course prevent bad teeth with cavities and gum disease. Try a fun toothbrushing song to encourage kids to take care of their little teeth, so when they start to lose their baby teeth, they have built great habits for their adult teeth.

How do you take care of kids teeth?
Brush their teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Help your child brush their teeth until they have good brushing skills. If your child is younger than 6, watch them brush. Make sure they use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste and always spit it out rather than swallow.
When should I start cleaning my baby's gums?
Once your baby is about 3 months old, you can gently wipe your baby's gums using a damp, clean face washer or gauze twice a day. This helps your baby get ready for brushing when the first tooth appears. As soon as the first tooth appears, clean teeth using a soft infant toothbrush designed for children under 2 years.
How often should a 5 year old go to the dentist?
Often you won't need to return for another year, when the child is two years old. After that, your child should visit the dentist every six months, just like adults. Dentists often take children's first x-rays between the ages of four and six.
